Spicy and Savoury: Cabbage and Pea Turmeric Stir-Fry
This Indian-inspired dish is not only tasty, but turmeric is one of the best spices to fight inflammation in the body. Known for its healing properties, it is described by some as the most powerful herb for fighting and reversing diseases. When combined with black pepper, its absorption in the body is further increased.
Ingredients
1 tbsp coconut oil (if oil-free, sub with water)
¼ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
6-7 curry leaves
2 chopped green chillies
½ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
3 cups shredded cabbage
½ cup green peas
½ cup cubed potatoes
Salt to taste
Method
- Heat oil or water in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add mustard and cumin seeds and let them pop.
- Add curry leaves and green chilli. Sautee for 30 seconds.
- Add turmeric powder, followed by cabbage, potatoes and green peas. Mix well.
- Add salt, pepper, coriander powder and chilli powder.
- Cover the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes or until cabbage and potatoes are cooked.
- Serve warm over basmati rice.
